Jewish Committee on Scouting
Mission Statement
Promote Scouting for Jewish youth in the Denver Area Council to assure that Jewish youth and adult Scouters in the Council are afforded greater exposure, improved access and increased participation in Scouting’s quality programs and service.
Scout Kinnus
Jewish Scouts and Scouters from all Scouting units are invited to participate in a Scout Kinnus (What is a Kinnus? Simply a “gathering” or getting together of Jewish Scouts).
The Jewish Committee on Scouting hosted a Kinnus around the holiday of Purim February 17th, 18th, and 19th at Camp Dobbins at Peaceful Valley. We started on Saturday night. We had prayer services, we went on a hike, we learned how to make monkey fists, and we even made Hamantaschen in dutch ovens. The Hamantaschen came out kind of flat but they tasted great. For those that aren't aware, Hamantaschen are cookies with fruit filling that are shaped like a triangle that represents the villain Haman's hat. Our Hamantaschen had raspberry, and blueberry filling.
Check this space for more information about our next Kinnus.
